Curlew Apartment

Named after Britain's largest wading bird, Curlew is a private, self-catering apartment for two people. Offering an ancient stone façade and modernised interiors with wooden beams, this characterful cottage beautifully blends the old with the new. Step inside to find the cosy lounge space, a bijou area made for two, complete with a leather sofa, a Smart TV and a wood burner. Up two steps, you’ll reach the elevated kitchen, with a neat breakfast bar facing the stunning view of the Yorkshire Dales opposite the ample appliances and stocked with essential spices and condiments. Next, you’ll find a king-size bedroom with an inviting bed to sink into at the end of each day, along with two steps leading up to a refreshing en-suite shower room.

Outside, a small, private patio area features outdoor seating, a charcoal BBQ and uninterrupted panoramic views. Shared grounds are also available, with additional patio furniture and a large BBQ, plus access to a moorland field with an additional seating area and firepit perfect for watching the sunset along the length of the Coverdale Valley. You can also enjoy access to a large shared lounge/dining space.

 

Please note there is a public footpath that runs through the grounds.

What does Curlew include?

​Bedrooms & Bathroom ​​

​

  • 1 king-size bedroom

  • 1 en-suite shower room with WC Including:  Shower gel, Hand soap, Septic tank friendly toilet paper – Please do not put anything else down the toilet. If you run out, just let us to know to replenish your supply.​​

  • Curlew comes supplied with towels, a hairdryer and bed linen . We will also leave some old towels by the front door just in case your dog likes a muddy walk.

The Kitchen​

  • Electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, washing machine, coffee machine and tea towels 

  • Tea, Sugar & Coffee including a selection of coffee pods for the Tassismo Coffee machine

  • Kitchen Roll, cling film & kitchen foil

  • Washing-up liquid, Dishwasher & Washing machine tabs

  • Olive oil

  • Salt & Pepper and a range of spices & herbs

  • Jam, Marmalade, Marmite

  • Welcome pack including local cheese & pastries, milk, some eggs, a small loaf of bread, and some butter.

  • Private parking for 1 car (additional parking available by prior arrangement)

  • Please note: Mobile phone signal is weak but WIFI calling is available

  • Private water supply from a spring, bottled water is provided

  • Private dining area with charcoal BBQ

Shops

The nearest shop is a 20-minute drive away. However, most of the major supermarkets will deliver an online shop to Swineside. 

​

The Local Pub

Subject to our availability and if requested in advance of your visit, we can offer a drop off to and/or pick up from our excellent local community-owned pub The Foresters Arms in Carlton for a contribution. We limit this service to one shuttle per stay

Note​

We do live on-site in Longhouse Farmhouse (front door in porch), however, we do not wish to intrude on your stay unless it is to improve your experience. There are OS maps on the wall of The Covey and details of local walking routes, sites of interest, restaurants and pubs in your cottages’ information pack, but if you have any queries or issues, please do not hesitate to approach us.
