Welcome to Longhouse
Your Retreat in the Yorkshire Dales
Experience Serenity and Adventure
Longhouse is a traditional stone-built building that is over 200 years old. Situated in a tiny hamlet high up on the slopes of the beautiful Coverdale valley, Longhouse was formerly a dairy farm which then was converted into a pottery and then a hotel.
After falling into disuse and disrepair, we purchased Longhouse in 2022 and began working with local builders to completely refurbish the property and convert it into both holiday cottages and our home. With its own spacious grounds, Longhouse sits next to common grazed moorland with fabulous views across Coverdale.

The guest houses, Lapwing, Curlew, and Oystercatcher, are all named after local species of bird in the dales moorland.

We wanted to create a place for people to come and experience real calm. Nestled in the old hamlet of Swineside, Longhouse is far away from the noise and distraction, offering a total disconnect.
